TURNER BREWERY TAKES TOP HONORS AT SPRING BEER & WINE FEST

Gilgamesh Brewing Takes Home Peoples’ Choice and Plans First Release Parties

Turner, OR – Gilgamesh Brewing, an up-and-coming local brewery, has won the Peoples’ Choice Award at Portland’s Spring Beer & Wine Fest for their Black Mamba.  Made with black tea leaves instead of hops and a note of tangerine zest, Black Mamba stood out among 42 breweries and over 70 beers featured at the event.  With festival attendance topping 12,000, this was a true honor for the family-owned brewery’s first Portland appearance.

Turner-based Gilgamesh Brewing uses many locally grown, natural ingredients such as mint and cranberries to produce high quality, unique beers like Chocolate Mint Stout and Cranberry Saison, and recently finished expanding their facility to a seven-barrel system (over 200 gallons) from a single barrel operation.

Upcoming events include their first release into bars and restaurants at Venti’s Café & Basement Bar in Salem (325 Court Street) on Wednesday, April 14 from 5-9pm, with free samples from 6-8pm.  A Portland release party with live music will be held at East Burn (1800 E. Burnside St.) on Saturday, April 17 starting at 7pm. For more information, visit their website at gilgameshbrewing.com or call Lani Radtke at 503-779-9686.
